Easter!

Life has been so crazy lately that I have just been living from one deadline to the next! I have lots of catching up to do on the blog, starting with Easter! Everyone was so excited about Easter this year. The quint are at a great age for holidays! They love everything about them. As soon as one holiday comes, they start asking me what the next one is going to be.

The night before Easter we had our traditional "egg-dying" party. This is the first year that we let the quints participate. Egg-dying is not really my kind of thing---I have a hard time getting past the visions in my head of stained clothes, floor, etc. But I know the kids love it, so I try to hide my anxiety :-) I also do my best to take all precautions---putting trash bag art smocks on the kids, doing the activity outside on a trash-bag covered table, etc. The kids had a blast!

After church, the Easter Bunny paid us a visit during naptime. At our house, the Easter Bunny color codes all the eggs (even for Riley and Kaiya) that way every kid gets the same number of eggs and the older kids can have their eggs hidden in more difficult spots.

For Easter dinner, we went over to our friends, the Woods' house. The Woods kids spent a couple hours in the afternoon filling over 100 Easter eggs and hiding them in the yard for the quints to find. The kids were so excited about going on the hunt! They ran around filling their baskets with eggs until Kaydence discovered an ant in her basket. When we opened one of the eggs, it was crawling with ants! Instead of candy, the kids had filled the eggs with Cheetos's, which are apparently highly desired by ants and quints alike. We had to abandon the hunt and herd everyone back inside.

The kids all got new jammies in their Easter baskets. Rustin and Ryder got Buzz and Woody jammies---they LOVE them! Rustin will go up to Ryder and push one of the "buttons" on his chest and Ryder will say, "To infinity...and beyond!" and then Ryder will pull Rustin's "string" and Rustin will say "There's a snake in my boots!", then both of them will dissolve into gales of laughter. They are hilarious!

Easter was so fun this year! The quints really got into it. They loved hunting for eggs. At our house the Easter Bunny color codes all the eggs so that everybody gets the same number and the older kids can have theirs hidden in trickier places. Since we color code everything with the quints anyway, they knew exactly what to do.

Ryder and Rustin were more excited by what was in the eggs than they were with finding them. They were content to sit and eat goodies (the quints eggs were filled with cinnamon goldfish and fruit snacks) and let the girls bring them all their eggs. The girls were all about the hunt---especially Kassidy.

Everyone got a coloring book in their basket and the quints each got a package of UNDERWEAR!!! (No, I haven't committed to potty training yet, but I am trying to take baby steps in that direction!)

Rustin, Kassidy, Kaydence, Ryder and Kyndall. The Woods kids made a little Easter Egg hunt for the quints. It was really cute--the eggs were filled with goldfish and Apple Jacks. We told the quints that they couldn't go outside and find the eggs until they were done with dinner. Ryder was so anxious to go that he stuffed his entire roll in his mouth.

We finished the evening with singing and dancing while Randy played the guitar.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately! We have had a lot going on, which means I have lots of great pictures, but no time to post them! I plan to play a little "catch-up" this week.



The day before Easter, Virginia brought over this adorable bunny cake for the kids to eat. The babies thought it was interesting. Ironically, Kaydence, the girl who usually tries anything, refused to even touch it. Ryder, my carb/sugar addict loved it and the rest of the babies tasted it, but thought it was more interesting to smoosh it in their fingers than to actually eat it.

Saturday night we dyed Easter Eggs with Riley and Kaiya. I must admit that when it comes to messy art projects, like this one, I usually spend the whole time paranoid that someone is going to carelessly knock over the cups full of dye and stain everything in sight. I think when the quints are old enough to dye eggs, we will have to do it outside wearing old clothes! Fortunately, we made it through spill-free and Riley and Kaiya had fun and ended up with some cute eggs too.

This year was the first year the quints could really participate in an egg hunt, and I was surprised at how quickly they caught on. Kassidy was the first one to get it, and the rest of the babies would follow her as she ran around the house looking for the eggs. It was so cute to watch!

All the kids looked so cute in their Easter Sunday outfits, that I decided to get out the backdrop and take some pictures before church. None of the babies wanted to cooperate with that idea! In fact, I have started to wonder if I will ever get a really cute picture of all five of them at the same time ever again! Maybe when they are old enough to bribe... I may not be turning any of these pictures into poster prints to hang on the wall, but I did get a good laugh out of some of them!
