"Outtakes"

Most of the time, I like to post really adorable pictures of the kids. This really isn't that difficult to do because let's face it---I have really adorable kids. (in my totally biased opinion of course--doesn't every mother think her kids are the most adorable things around?). However, to be totally honest, the cute smiling pictures I usually post aren't always the whole story. Today, I decided to share a "behind the scenes" look at what really goes on when we take pictures at our house...

The Cute Smiling Picture I Posted on the Blog...don't they look angelic?

Kyndall, Rustin, Kaydence, Ryder, Kassidy

What really happened during the photo shoot...

Cute picture of my cousin Christine and the babies.

You probably don't recognize this next picture because we never did get a "cute" one to post to the blog. Have you noticed that Ryder does not like getting his picture taken? Even the Cheerio's we put in his mouth during this photo shoot were not making him happy...

Kyndall, Rustin, Kaydence, Ryder, and Kassidy

Kaydence was clearly unaffected by Ryders tantrum, but Kassidy decided to take matters into her own hands...

Poor Ryder!

No one was very happy in this shot of my friend, Halli, and the babies

But sometimes a change in location can do wonders...

Riley and Kaiya are not exempt. Even with all the pictures we take around our house, they have a hard time giving a real smile. Their "fake" smiles make it look as though they are being tortured (maybe because they rank picture taking right up there with eating a large bowl of raw tomatoes), but when we try to coax a "real" smile out of them, it usually ends up in laughter.

After

I think we usually average around 10-15 "bad" shots for every good picture we get. For the calendar, the number was more like 50. Thank goodness for digital!!!

I know it's cruel, but I cant stop laughing at that first "oopsie" picture with Ryder flat on his face (so sorry Ryder!)

Haha that second picture with Rustin being a bully is hilarious too (sorry, can't work out who he's attacking)

I know what you mean about it taking lots of attempts to get one decent photo. I've been trying all day to get a few decent pictures of my dog and it just isn't happening!

As always, GORGEOUS photos of GORGEOUS kids! Can't believe they are going to be one very soon!

Great photos. I just came across your website and I enjoy reading about families that have mutiple births. I was wondering can you put under the photo of the babies in the bath who is who. Thank you for sharing the photos. Keep them coming when you have time.

I can NOT stop laughing at the second shot--one baby on his face, another baby with her headband over her eyes. It's great :)

ha! I'm sure all parents of babies can relate, but those photo opps get harder with each baby you add! I know when we try to get a good photo of our twins...lots are taken and we try to find a good one in the bunch. Love all the 'behind the scenes' shots you shared! So cute!!

This post cracks me up! I so feel your pain! With our quads & my 5 yr old son, I always get so frustrated at picture time. You seriously have to take 5 million shots to get one good one! We're going to a professional studio for the first time with the babies that a friend owns soon (since RSV season is finally over)...do you have any suggestions/advice??? I finally just started pulling stuff off my video camera for our blog, out of pure laziness! =) I love your banner...you have a beautiful family!

I love the Texas shirts! Where did you get those? I think I need some for Alec and Cora. I love all the outtakes!

I guess we were lucky on Saturday when Ryder was so happy to have his picture taken!

When someone comes to my office I make them look at that second picture just so I can bring a little joy and laughter into their lives.

I have one and it's hard to get good pictures so I can't imagine how you ever get a good one with seven.

In my statistical opinion, the least squares regression line has highest strength of fit when the outlier (Ryder) is removed. :)

Thanks for sharing the pictures. Even the so called rejects..they really are great though, cause it does tell a much real story of what life is really like. Hehe! We rarely get a picture of our quads all together, much less with their brother...so bravo to you. And keep snapping away.

What a great post, and TOTALLY true! What a great idea to post outtakes...everyone has them, but with 5 babies it's extra fun! :)

I'm a long-time lurker and admirer--after I had twins 2 years ago, I was drawn even more to moms of multiples. They are beautiful babies!!

You've discovered the photographer's trick - take 100 photos and pray that one or two of them turn out to be worthy of sharing. I love my Nikon's rapid-fire shutter, especially when photographing squirmy babies! What a gorgeous group of little ones you have.

I just found your blog through someone else's. . .

Your children are absolutely ADORABLE! I haven't gotten past page 1 of your blog, but bless your heart. I am surprised you have time to blog, but I'm glad you do. Your family is amazing.

I just saw the pictures Kristen Duke took of your cute kiddos on her blog. I love the outfits from Hawaii. You might have to use one of those pictures in your next calendar!

Rachelle,

I love the post. I can't stop laughing. Probably because I can relate. The kiddos are so cute. I love their funny faces. Your older two are also so adorable. Aren't you so glad they have each other?

I might have to borrow your outtake idea for my blog! That is such a cute idea. I surely have more crazy pics than ones where they are looking at the camera with all smiles. Any way its always fun to look at your blog, I think of you guys often and hope all is well.
