I took the quints with me to Hobby Lobby to pick up some things for Kaiya's birthday party which is coming up this weekend. When I take the kids shopping by myself, I usually try to stick to stores with big carts (like Costco) so I can put everyone inside and keep them contained, but today I really needed to get some things for the party so I decided to brave it. The kids actually did really well...maybe they were excited to be allowed to walk in the store for a change, or maybe it was my use of bribery ("Kids who obey in the store get to watch a video on the way home!"). We only had one "incident"---Ryder somehow managed to pull the cart over on himself sideways, knocking himself to the ground. It scared him pretty bad, but no serious injuries. The store manager happened to be on the next aisle over when it happened and came running over, which was a little embarrassing (for me). However, we managed to make it out of the store with everything we needed and without breaking anything. And I saved money because each of the quints could be a different "customer" and I could use six different 40% off coupons :-) (Not to mention that the kids loved handing their item and money over to the cashier.) If only all my shopping trips could be so successful!

Wow, you are brave! And I'm hoping I didn't already ask this cuz I've been meaning to for some time.. is there any way to watch the quint episodes that were on TV online somewhere?
I love that each kid could use a separate coupon. Way to save money!
Wow you are brave!!! Where do you find Hobby Lobby coupons? I've been wanting to head over there to buy some shadow box frames to put the kid's newborn outfits in.
Oh, you're brave! I have one four year old and it's scary taking her in there. I'm always afraid she's going to pull down some of their center glass displays.
Poor Ryder! I'm glad he's all right. I'm glad that they were so good for you in the store. And yeah I'm a huge fan of bribery.
I can't wait to see what your doing for Kaiya's birthday.
Fun!
Wouldn't one 40% voucher save you the same money as 6??
Kaia--there isn't an official place to watch Texas Quints online, but someone posted a link in a comment recently of a site where you could watch them (don't remember which post it was, but it was fairly recent)
You can find Hobby Lobby coupons on their website. They have them every other week, or sometimes more. Buggles---they only let you use one coupon per item per customer per day, so with six of us, I could get six items at 40% off rather than one :-)
Thanks for clearing that up, Rachelle! Hope you didnt think I thought you were being thick lol, I work in retail and the shop I work at give out 10% off vouchers every 3 months. You get 2 vouchers per customer and the amount of times I've had people trying to split their items into two so that they can use both their vouchers... I don't think they realise that 10% off £50 is still the same as 2x 10% off £25!!
Buggles...don't worry, I was not offended by your comment!
We have GOT to get together sometime and share shopping stories!!! Sometimes when I only need one or 2 things at the grocery store I let each child take a basket (a hand-held one) to put something in. Having them walk in the store is such great practice for them.
Diane---It would be totally fun to get together sometime! I am sure we could swap all kinds of stories :-)

I found this blog entry Googling to see if I could use multiple 40% coupons if I sent each of my kids through with a coupon. So thanks for answering my question! ;)
